size. ceramics 25cm x 13cm x 16cm

Within one tile, creativity can blossom into incredible new formations. Designing one small piece, then finding ways to repeat and connect the forms, lines and shapes, this tile box pushed the boundaries of creativity as an experiment with the unpredictable. After arriving at the streamline design, I wanted to take this piece one step further and add metal hinges to the ceramic medium. Building the inset to accommodate the hinges, carefully crafting the gap with the inevitable contraction of the clay in the firing process, fitting this box with its hinged lid was no small feat. The intricate gesture of the lines on the front of the box are reflected in the precision of the hinge.
