Laser Cut

Cribbage Board

date. 2019

city. Vancouver

size. Woodwork 76cm x 12m x 8cm

Some of my most cherished memories with my father are when we would sit down and play cribbage together. I wanted to create something that converged my new technology skills with an old traditional game, so I designed a cribbage board and laser cut it into a piece of denim wood. Staying true to the traditional design of the cribbage board, with a delicately framed trim, the clean finished design is a balance of precision. I created a slot system to store the pegs when not in play, with a dowel stopper to keep them contained. The combination of laser cutting with traditional woodworking tools resulted in a beautiful final product.
